Irish Commercials are Ireland’s approved distributor for Volvo trucks and buses. With 3 locations throughout Ireland, they expect and demand the same great levels of service and technical support that Irish Commercials provide to their Volvo clients.

Irish Commercials have recently expanded and opened their Santry, Dublin depot and called upon SenSys Technology to provide them with a Business IP Telephone System, Wi-Fi and Managed Wireless LAN, State of the Art IP CCTV System with Intelligent detection and an Integrated Intruder Alarm System in Dublin all converged on one managed and scalable network.

the goal

SenSys Technology had previously worked and supported the IP CCTV and video analytics and some wireless network technologies at Irish Commercials Naas offices. So, when we met with Irish Commercials IT Director, he had very specific requirements and demands for their IT data network and security systems and as we had proved our services and support on previous projects, he knew the SenSys Technology Team where the right company to deliver his Network, Communications and Security System requirements with the on-going support and maintenance with SenSys CARE.

The WiFi and Wireless LAN requirements:

Complete internal and external coverage of the WiFi access throughout the office, social areas, workshop and yard areas
Have 3 different SSID and access providing: ‘Office Access, Guest access, and Workshop access’
Operate the WiFi phones over a reliable wireless network with HD voice quality
Secured network access
The IT manager required complete visibility of the wireless network and what network activity was happening on it
Reliability and uptime was key to business continuity

THE SENSYS SOLUTION

SenSys Technology installed cloud-managed WiFi 802.11ac access points supporting 2.4GHz & 5GHz. The high-performance dual-band access points are water and dust resistant ideal for the challenging workshop and external locations.

The access points installed are controlled by a cloud managed wireless controller with 99.9% uptime. The cloud controller was appealing to the client as it meant that there were no expensive on-site controllers for Irish Commercials to support and manage an upgrade plan for.

The WiFi SSID’s were programmed with an Irish Commercials Volvo branded splash page with password protection for the staff network and restricted browsing parameters for the guest/public network. With the built-in firewall prevents users on the public network from seeing each other or the wired staff network by default.

Through the user-friendly web management dashboard, we provided the IT manager with great user insight with bandwidth management, and device fingerprinting so the client can see who is on the network from the device, operating system, name, bandwidth used and more.
